Airdrie Relay for Life, June 15-16 – Shelley Goulet - Airdrie Campus

“As the night sky grew darker, spirits grew brighter. ” Holly’s Hooligans team from Bow Valley College, Airdrie Campus, walked or jogged from dusk until dawn the next day to support cancer research and care. “It’s hope,” said Laurette Wolvansky, a former BVC student and cancer survivor. Holly Albersworth, an instructor at the Airdrie campus, has been battling cancer for over 2 years. Her courage, dignity and ever present smile and humour are an inspiration to all those who know her. The Relay for Life offered the chance to celebrate cancer survivors, remember and honour loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against cancer. More than 150 cancer survivors and supporters of the relay completed the all night relay and more than $45,000 was raised for the Canadian Cancer Society. This year marked the 75th anniversary of the nation-wide campaign.
